Ultrasound Rooms / Ultrasonography

Ultrasound rooms primarily utilize only sound waves for imaging soft tissue — such as fetuses during pregnancy — and higher ultra-sonic frequencies are utilized for medical treatments such as breaking down kidney stones or gallstones, a technology and procedure known as lithotripsy. These rooms do not utilize or require any lead shielding as they do not produce any ionizing x-ray or gamma radiation.

Important Notice Regarding Radiation Shielding

Ray-Bar does not supply radiation shielding materials for ultrasound-only rooms. However, facilities that incorporate ultrasound rooms alongside other diagnostic imaging modalities should evaluate adjacent areas and overall facility design to ensure proper radiation protection where required.

If your facility also includes x-ray, CT, or other ionizing imaging systems, contact Ray-Bar to discuss your radiation shielding requirements and request a customized solution.
