Gamma Knife Room Dimensions
Room sizes vary from 20'0" x 20'0" to approximately 24'0" x 24'0". These rooms require heavily specialized shielding design due to the extreme energy levels involved, including a ceiling vault and a heavily shielded door assembly. Shielding must be calculated by a certified and licensed radiation or health physicist or other "Radiation Expert" (as defined by NCRP or ICRP) and independently retained by the radiation therapy or oncology facility.

- Beam geometry and orientation in room in relation to surrounding walls
- Projected use — treatments / procedures per day / workload

- Controlled vs. uncontrolled (monitored by dosimetry, general access)
