Ray-Bar X-Ray Safety Glass is federal and medical building safety code compliant and always readily available as permanently labeled. Our x-ray lead glass provides the required impact resistance for door vision-lites, in walls within 24" of a door opening, in high risk traffic areas, and for additional seismic safety, providing a clear view while additionally shielding X-Ray/Gamma radiation, and 95% of UV protection.

Ray-Bar impact resistant x-ray safety glass is utilized "to reduce or minimize the likelihood of cutting or piercing injuries when said glazing is broken by human contact". Per ANSI Z.97.1-2009

*Ray-Bar X-Ray Safety Glass is NOT fire-rated, tempered, impact proof, shatter proof or scratch resistant. Fire-rated designs are available upon request.

Per ANSI Z.97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Category 2 standards, any x-ray control window occurring within 24" of a door opening and any vision lite window occurring in a shielded door must have impact resistant X-Ray Safety Glass and be permanently labeled as meeting these required impact resistant standards.

Please Note: X-Ray Lead Glass cannot be tempered as it is physically impossible due to its low melting temperature and surface characteristics. It will not survive the thermal tempering process or accept a chemical salt bath regardless of the manufacturer; however X-Ray Lead Glass is NOT REQUIRED by any safety code to be "tempered". The good news is that Ray-Bar X-Ray Safety Glass meets all current glass safety codes for impact resistance and is permanently labeled accordingly as per ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 Cat 2 and IBC 2406 requirements for hazardous locations indoors and this is particularly applicable in a medical facility environment.
